Houbara bustards
The
number of Houbara Bustards has been reduced in the past decades, due to
poaching and illegal destruction by the human. The Abu Dhabi’s Government has
put a wildlife centre in Morocco in order of increase the number of these
endangered birds. The centre’s plans are to put these projects in certain
places to spread Houbara birds there. Also the centre is concerned in breeding
and training the birds to release them into wild, in fact not all of them were
released some kept for breeding. The scientists monitor the birds even after
they are released, in fact they observed that the number of the birds has been
increased in the past 10 years. As a result of that, the project has been
success. As the author explains “The success of the programme can be measured
though their density in the wild and by observing the number of nests”
(Todorova, V. 2011).
